Profile:

Dr. Raudel Sanchez is a Project Manager for Project Navigator, Ltd., and joined the company in January 2008. Raudel’s key strengths are in project management, construction scenario simulation and planning, and project metrics analysis and forecasting. Currently, Raudel provides project engineering support at a major Superfund Site EPC program, involving cap construction, groundwater controls and gas collection. Additionally, Raudel is involved in a project team which is developing online techniques for a major oil company, for storing & delivering data, information, visual engineering and project case studies. Raudel is also involved in a team which has assessed internal landfill temperatures, as a lead in to a more global objective of optimizing the landfill’s gas collection systems to reduce operating costs.

Raudel has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach in 2002, and a Ph.D. from the University Of Southern California in 2008.

In his Ph.D. thesis, Raudel studied the migration of liquid and gas migration through porous media, simulating the conditions internal to municipal solid waste landfills. He has developed software to simulate two phase flow in landfills. The programs take into consideration the heterogeneity of the real world landfill and incorporate variables such as permeability, porosity, tortuosity and the spatial variation in landfill gas generation rates.

He has also worked on Genetic Algorithms to fit experimental landfill methane data to a numerical simulator involving thousandths of landfill parameters (e.g. porosity, permeability, tortuosity and chemical gas potential distribution). Raudel has developed and employed Artificial Neural Networks to forecast methane, carbon dioxide and temperature distributions from operating data from a major Superfund Site.

Raudel has coauthored papers in landfill gas migration and optimization, which will be supplied on request.
