Wireless Technology Comes to BKK
A Wi-Fi system has been installed at the BKK landfill. PNL, partnering with SCS engineers, has installed several Wi-Fi units at various locations on the landfill for the purposes of site monitoring and operations management. Currently, the Wi-Fi system is being used to monitor and control water usage and irrigation, and to augment landfill security via live, wireless video.
Because of its versatility, the new Wi-Fi system has many future applications at the landfill. These include the ability to monitor flow rates in water, influent, and effluent lines, and the ability to monitor and control various landfill operation components, such as flare stations and the LTP, from a remote location.
