Project
Navigator has a strong internal culture
of understanding data through visualization.
We believe our clients are in a better
position to understand and make project
decisions if they can visualize the
entire project terrain. Similarly, the
individuals whom our clients need to
convince of their proposed project direction,
are in a position to make real-time
decisions if the data and information
is presented in a format that can be
rapidly assimilated.
We
continue to expand the range of services
we offer in graphics, project visualization
and model building. During the past
few years, we have successfully used
our visualization techniques to help
our clients better understand, design
and implement their projects. Other
project stakeholders, such as regulators
and community members, can all be brought
into alignment using these tools. The
possible future direction of a project
can be visualized and brought to life.
With
the success of the approach we have
established a stand alone, shared service
team to work on project visualization
techniques.
More
information, regarding our creative
visualization capabilities, is available
through our operating subsidiaries:
- Visualization
Navigator: Provides graphic
and visualization services for engineering
project and litigation activities.
- efxWorks:
Provides a range of visual, video
and miniature model building services
to support the communication needs
of any project.
All
of the project visualization techniques
are complemented via web-enabled communication
of the results, and online viewing at
www.projectoolbox.com.
To assist our clients in "project
visualization", we utilize the
following 6 main techniques:
Project
Visualization
- Digitized,
spatially presented data is viewed
in 3D, permitting the client to virtually
move within a project site.
- For
example, the impacts of subsurface
chemicals on surface receptors are
readily understood.
3D
Data Immersion
- By
complementing the above 3D visualization
with an ability to fly through the
data field, the project manager can
virtually enter the project.
Animation
- Virtual
3D data renderings can be put into
temporal motion, permitting data trends
to be better understood.
- Construction
sequences can be forecasted by animation,
permitting a "design/build"
team to work together more cohesively.
Model
Building
- Project
Navigator can create balsa wood "hard
models" of planned future scenarios.
We have built models to assist with
our Superfund Site work and our overseas
development work.
Aerial
Photography Analysis
- Digitized
aerials (from up to 80 years ago)
can be integrated into Geographical
Information System (GIS) data analysis.
- We
employ the simultaneous use of aerials
and GIS to guide site assessment efforts.
Explanation
Storyboards
- Storyboards
are a key communication technique
that allows us to present complex,
spatially diverse information and
data in a dynamic and understandable
format.
- All
work leading to the creation of the
project storyboards is performed in-house
by the unique blend of Project Navigator
artistic, graphic and engineering
talents.
- Storyboards
are commonly used to explain data
and concepts at Superfund projects.
